Healthcare website design
Healthcare website design for medical and mental health practices
A good practice website loads fast on a phone, is easy for every patient to use, and makes booking obvious. We design and build healthcare websites that are fast, mobile-first, built toward WCAG accessibility standards, connected to your EHR’s booking or request form, and structured for search from day one.
- Fast on mobile, with Lighthouse testing before launch
- Built toward WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility
- Booking and intake links to your EHR
- Service, location and FAQ pages structured for SEO
What you get
What every practice website we build includes
Every site covers the same five basics. They are what patients and search engines notice first.
Speed
Light pages, compressed images and no heavy page builders. Most patients visit on a phone, often on a slow connection, so speed is part of the design, not an afterthought.
Accessibility
Readable contrast, real headings, labeled forms, keyboard navigation and alt text, built toward WCAG 2.2 AA. We check with automated tools and by hand before launch.
Mobile-first layout
Designed for small screens first: tap-to-call, short forms, clear buttons and no sideways scrolling.
Booking integration
Links or embeds for your EHR’s online booking, client portal or appointment request form, where your EHR offers one. Patients go from your site to a booking in a few taps.
SEO structure
One page per service and location, clean URLs, titles and descriptions, FAQ sections and schema markup so search engines understand who you treat and where.
Privacy by design
No ad-tracking pixels on booking, intake or portal pages, and contact forms that ask only for what you need to call a patient back.
Proof you can check
This website is our example
The site you are reading was built the way we build practice sites. It scores 97 to 100 on Google Lighthouse mobile performance tests.
You can check it yourself: open this page in Chrome, run Lighthouse or PageSpeed Insights in mobile mode, and look at the performance, accessibility, best-practices and SEO scores. Scores vary a little from run to run and by network, which is why we give a range.
We use the same approach for client sites: static pages where possible, fonts and scripts kept to a minimum, and nothing loaded that a patient does not need.
Process
How a website project runs
- 01
Discovery
We learn your services, providers, locations, insurance and the patients you want to reach, and review your current site and search presence.
- 02
Sitemap and content
We plan the pages, then write or edit plain-English copy for each service and location. You approve everything before it goes live.
- 03
Design and build
We design mobile-first, build the pages, connect booking and forms, and add titles, descriptions and schema markup.
- 04
Test and launch
We test speed, accessibility, forms and links on phones and desktops, set up redirects from old pages so you keep search history, and launch.
- 05
Updates
After launch we can update pages, add providers and services, and keep the site fast as it grows.
Accessibility and compliance
Accessibility and privacy are part of the build
An accessible website lets patients who use screen readers, keyboards or zoom find information and book. Accessibility complaints and lawsuits do reach healthcare websites, and some practices, such as those that receive federal funding, may have specific accessibility obligations. We build toward WCAG 2.2 AA and fix issues found in testing.
On privacy, we keep ad and analytics tracking off pages where patients enter health information, and we keep forms short. We sign a business associate agreement with every client. Your attorney or compliance adviser should confirm your practice’s specific legal obligations.
More than a website
A website that works with your billing and marketing
Because we also run billing, credentialing and marketing for practices, we build sites that match how your practice actually works: the payers you are in-network with, the states you serve and the way new patients get on the schedule.
Common questions
How much does a healthcare website cost?
We price each website by custom quote, based on the number of pages, locations and providers, content writing and booking setup. You get a written quote after a short discovery call.
Can my website connect to my EHR for online booking?
Usually, yes. Many EHRs, such as SimplePractice and TherapyNotes, offer an online booking or appointment request link or widget that we can place on your site. What is possible depends on your EHR and plan.
Is my website required to be ADA or WCAG compliant?
Many healthcare providers are expected to make their websites accessible, and WCAG is the standard most often used to measure it. The exact rules depend on your practice, so confirm with your attorney. We build toward WCAG 2.2 AA either way.
How fast will my site be?
We aim for Lighthouse mobile performance scores in the 90s. This website scores 97 to 100 on mobile. Your final score depends on things like video, third-party widgets and booking embeds, and we tell you the trade-off before adding them.
Will I lose my Google rankings if I redesign?
Not if old pages are redirected properly. We map every old URL to its new page, keep content that ranks, and submit the new sitemap after launch.
Do I own the website?
Yes. The domain, content and site are yours. We can host and update it for you, or hand it over to your team.
